Milwaukee, WI – June 30, 2009 – Richard J. Rakita, an attorney with the Milwaukee and Delafield law firm of Weiss Berzowski Brady LLP is being honored by the Jewish National Fund (JNF) and the Jewish Home and Care Center. He is receiving, along with his wife Gayle Weber Rakita, a JNF honorary award and is being recognized for his years of service and leadership on behalf of the Home.
The JNF began in 1901 and has evolved into an environmental leader, partnering with the land and people of Israel. The JNF has planted millions of trees, built parks and recreational areas, created new communities and constructed reservoirs and recycling centers. The Jewish Home and Care Center opened its doors in 1906 to care for the Jewish elderly in Wisconsin.
Mr. Rakita’s service to the Jewish and legal community spans decades. He is currently the chairman of the board of the Jewish Home and Health Care Center Foundation and has served as the Home’s chairman of the board of directors. In addition, he has served as the programming chair of the American Jewish Committee, a trustee of Congregation Beth Israel and an officer of the Milwaukee Jewish Council. Mr. Rakita has served as chairman of the Milwaukee Bar Association’s judicial polling committee and has served on various other committees of both the Milwaukee and State Bar associations.
Mr. Rakita heads the real estate practice group at the firm. He is also a member of the American Bar Association.
